Liz Ellis began playing netball at the age of 8-years-old with the Green Hills Netball Club. Throughout the years, she worked her way through the ranks of local, representative and state teams, and in 1989 was named the Captain of the NSW Under 17yrs Netball Team.
Her talent was rewarded with an AIS scholarship in 1991 and in the same year she was the first ‘under-age’ player to be selected in the Australian Open Team.
In the middle of her netball career, Liz managed to graduate from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Arts combined with a Bachelor of Laws BA/LLB.
In 1998, she was a member of the first netball team to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal and was named Australian Netballer of the Year.
In 2000 she was named Vice-Captain of the Australian Netball team and Captain of the Sydney TAB Swifts.
